If you’ve ever bought Lelo toys, then you know what to expect. It showed up at my door in a sleek box with a small plastic window showing the toy inside.

The box is a nice dark color that doesn’t draw attention to itself. So you can take your time opening it up. It also has a very clean top-shelf look that just screams “PREMIUM.”

It’s the diva of sex toys.

If you’re keeping the box, make sure you put the plastic window against a wall. You don’t want to be too obvious, right?

Let’s take a look at the specs and see what the Hugo toy is all about.

I like that it has a standby time of 90 days. I hate taking the time to charge a toy and recharge it because I couldn’t use it within a few days. Especially since the charging time is about equal with the use time.

The noise level is about the same as  a conversation at home.

That means that it probably won’t wake anyone up if you use it behind closed doors. Just don’t try and get away with using this at the job or in a fancy restaurant.

We mentioned earlier that this is a luxury product. So you pay more than other prostate massagers. I call this a luxury product because it has a look AND feel that reminds me of top-shelf bourbon.

The Lelo Hugo toy is a designer’s toy. Its silicone material looks and feels smooth. The shiny gold plastic with the Lelo insignia adds to the toy’s stylish design. I didn’t feel any seams between the silicone and the gold finish.

You can see more of that designer feel in the color options available. Most toys only give you one choice, but the Hugo has three options: Black, Deep Rose, or Ocean Blue.

The remote control is the same color as your prostate massager toy.

It has a sleek shape and fits comfortably in the palm of my hand. Instead of a screen, you get a simple set of buttons that’s easy to figure out and operate.

If you have larger fingers, don’t worry, because the buttons are nice and big.

Size of the Hugo

Hugo’s insertable length is 3.4 inches, and its max width is 1.28 inches, which is on the smaller side of prostate plugs. 

The prostate is only about 2 to 3 inches inside the rectum, so the Lelo Hugo is large enough to reach your prostate. But it won’t give you a full feeling or put too much pressure on it. 

Most of the stimulation comes from the strong vibrations – despite the size, this massager really packs a punch. 

The size of the Hugo toy makes it perfect for prostate play newbies since smaller toys are less intimidating and less likely to cause discomfort.

However, if you already have some experience and prefer deeper penetration or more pressure on your prostate, this toy might not cover all your bases.

The FIRST MODE works based on how you hold on to the remote.

When the remote is held at a horizontal level, then it’s at its lowest settings. Then the power increases as you raise it to a vertical position.

This mode also makes the remote vibrate at the same time as the toy.

The SECOND MODE changes the intensity by shaking the remote. Fun at first, but your arm will get tired after a while, so I don’t recommend it.

You might be wondering why this matters.

If you don’t like dealing with buttons or checking which side is up, you can control it with simple hand motions.

It also provides a real sexy visual for couples’ play. As your partner lifts the toy, you can feel the vibrations strengthen, and that’s huge!

Dual Motors

The Hugo toy has two motors: one in the tip and one in the base. These motors control the vibrations inside the prostate and along the perineum.

• A slow acceleration to the maximum level 
• An acceleration up to the maximum level back down again
• Random vibration

The most interesting option is the 6th pattern. 

The toy randomly chooses different intensities, each lasting for about a second before changing. It’s a great choice if you want to let yourself be surprised by the next pleasure wave.

How to Use Lelo Hugo

My Hugo toy came with batteries for the remote control. It’s easy enough to use the key to pop open the back and plug in the batteries.

But for the toy itself, you should charge it at least TWO HOURS before use.

Thankfully, you can charge it on any PC or USB port. So leave it plugged in at home while you work or in your car if you have a USB plug or converter.

When you’re ready to play, apply lube to the insertion end. The Hugo comes with a small amount of water-based lube, which I found works best. But you can use your favorite if you have one you trust.

Then insert the toy until it’s comfortable and tightly fit. Play with the controller settings until you find the right setting for you. Then just lay back and enjoy.

When Lelo says that this toy is waterproof, they mean it can stay submerged for at least half an hour with no problems.

This means cleaning it is a snap. All you have to do is give it a good wash in warm soapy water and dry it off with a napkin.

Quick Note: The Hugo toy does have plug-in charging. So, there’s a small part that may not look seamless. It’s covered with a cap, but some users get worried about water getting into the plug. I’ve never had that problem, but it’s something to think about.

I suppose you could air dry it, but I have a bad habit of forgetting to hide my toys if I don’t deal with it right then and there. So to each their own.

After cleaning up and drying the sex toy, put it away in Lelo’s satin pouch.
