The Not So Good
Some users looking for deeper and faster thrusts may feel underwhelmed by this mini-machine.
It’s not waterproof and can still get pretty loud at the highest speed setting. Also, it requires a bit of positioning work if you’re not getting the suction cup attachment.
The Bottom Line

First Impressions… THRUST
My package came in a discreet plain white cardboard box with the name “Velvet Co.” as the sender. It includes the following contents:
- Velvet Thruster Prime Frankie in red color inside a white non-discreet box
- Jackie in mint, Walter and Sammie in black, and Nanci in lilac
- Prime suction cup, long reach handle, and partner play handle
- Charger with adapter
- 3 black see-through drawstring bags
The Velvet Thruster Prime is bigger than the Thruster Mini Teddy (now Teddy TX) but somewhat the same size as the original (now discontinued) Jackie.
The main unit looks and feels sturdy. The base has these “balls” that kinda look like an AirPods case. I already have a feeling I’ll be holding onto them for dear life (more details later).
The suction cup base attachment is not as flat as the built-in suction on my Mini Thrusters. Both long and short handles look durable and well-built.
All five swappable silicone shafts are velvety soft to the touch with a bit of firmness to them like the original Velvet Thrusters.
Each shaft has a different shape for different uses. The only two with a similar phallic shape are Jackie and Sammie.
But Sammie’s on the thicker side — something I’m sure size royals will be very happy with.
All Prime shafts come in lilac, mint, red, and black colors, and lilac, white, and black for the base color. As you can see, I chose a mix and match of colors.

Eenie Meenie Jackie Sammie… Which Thruster Should You Get?
Jackie Prime has the same realistic shape as the OG Jackie and Teddy TX thrusters. It’s average-sized (1.5″ diameter head to shaft) with a smooth, subtle head and a veiny textured shaft. With ample lubing, it feels smooth once it thrusts inside and out.
Velvet Thruster Prime Jackie
Frankie has a long head, a corona that stands out, and three ridges below the head. The rest of the shaft is smooth. Thrusting Frankie’s textured ridges feels like you’re getting an oh-so-good deep massage.
Velvet Thruster Prime Frankie
Sammie has the same realistic shape, subtle head, and veiny textured shaft as Jackie. The obvious difference is its thickness – 1.85″ diameter, to be exact. So yes, it’s bigger and slightly longer than Jackie, making it great for folks who want to ride thicker toys.

Thrusting anal beads? Walter’s got you covered. It has five beads in total: the first two beads are smaller than the last three (all 1.35″ diameter), with the smallest being 0.65″ diameter. That makes inserting Walter easy, even for users new to anal play.

The Thruster Mini – Teddy (Teddy TX)
This mini G-spot thruster has the same shape and function as Prime Abbey, just an inch and a half shorter. It’s the same size as Teddy TX with a built-in suction cup. However, it’s more flexible (up to 90°), faster, and lasts longer.

How Does The Velvet Thruster Prime Feel?
Let’s start with holding the Prime Thruster.
I initially thought holding Prime would feel like holding the bulky OG Jackie because of their somewhat similar size. I WAS WRONG.
Even without a suction cup, the base was easy to hold as the toy was thrusting in and out. *Thank you, AirPods balls!*
I didn’t feel uncomfortable holding it a bit longer than what I’m used to (and believe me, that’s saying something).
Now, let’s talk about the swappable heads/shafts.
Like the original Velvet Thrusters and Mini Thrusters, all Prime Thrusters feel velvety soft on the outside. But once inside, it’s not as squishy as other silicone toys.
There’s a bit of firmness to it. You’ll know that because the shaft retains its shape as it’s consistently thrusting. And you’ll feel that from the pinpoint sensations with each thrust.
Some heads/shafts have subtle textures like Jackie and Sammie that feel smooth as they glide in and out.
Others have more pronounced textures like Walter and Frankie, where you’d feel them doing something to your insides.
Battle of the Thrusters: Prime vs. Velvet Thruster Mini Teddy
On the blue corner: Prime Thrusters. Here are why they’re better than the Mini Thrusters.
- They have interchangeable silicone shafts. You can swap and choose from 5 different heads/shafts by removing the one from the main unit. So you don’t need to buy a different thrusting dildo each time you crave variety.
- They’re longer with more insertable length and stroke length (the moving part), so you’ll feel that you’re getting deeper, more human-like thrusts.
- You can get accessories for your Prime Thruster for more variety and positions to try. Plus, make solo and partnered play more enjoyable.
- The suction cup attachment is not as flat as the built-in suction cup base on Mini Thrusters. That means Prime Thrusters stick better on flat surfaces than Mini Thrusters.
- Finally, Prime Thrusters have more pushing power and battery life. After one full charge, they have a maximum run time of 8 hours. That’s 4x a Mini Thruster’s battery life!
On the red corner: Mini Thrusters. Here’s why they’re better.
- They’re cheaper than Prime Thrusters, especially Teddy TX. So, they’re perfect if you’re on a budget or want to figure out whether or not thrusting toys are for you.
- They’re shorter and weigh less. Mini Thrusters are still the most compact quality thrusting toys out there. They’re travel-friendly and easier to hold when you’re playing solo missionary.
WINNER? If you want more power, more options, more battery life, more everything in a thrusting toy, Prime Thrusters are a no-brainer.
But if you’re looking for a cheaper and more compact thrusting toy, you’re better off getting a Mini Thruster.
How to Use Velvet Thruster Prime
Here’s the lowdown on using the toy’s control buttons. (Note: You can skip this part if you already own the Mini Teddy.)
- Press the power button at the base to start the thrusting motion at the lowest speed. The band changes color to indicate the current speed.
- Press the ‘+’ and ‘−’ buttons to increase or decrease the thrusting speed up to 6 levels.
- Press the power button for a few seconds to turn the toy off. This will put the toy at its lowest speed setting (shortest length) before shutting down within 3 seconds. But if you press the power button again within that time frame, the toy will stop at the current level of the shaft.
Before inserting the thruster, apply an ample amount of water-based or hybrid lube on the shaft. Then, position the toy with the buttons facing up for easy adjustment while in use.
Or you can choose your fave setting (remember the band color?), stick the suction cup (if you got one) on a flat surface, and enjoy some hands-free thrusting action.
If you can’t keep the thruster steady with your hands only, you can prop it up on some pillows or wedge it between them just between your legs for more support.
You need to do this because Velvet Thruster Prime has a powerful motor. It’ll move away from your body and out of you without pillows or a suction cup base for support.
Now onto swapping the shaft…
To swap the shaft, you have to remove the primary shaft first. Pull the ribbed bottom part slowly with one hand while keeping the inner body steady with the other. With a little wiggle here and jiggle there. Poof! Gone!
To insert a new shaft, hold the top part and slowly push it down until the ribbed bottom reaches the unit’s grooves or the plastic part just above the silicone base.
Ensure the silicone shaft fits around securely. Ready for round 2?
How To Change Attachments
Changing out your Velvet Thruster attachments is easy, the trick is just to be slow and gentle.
To put a new attachment onto the thrusting motor, slide it on, then gently tug and pull at the concertina section until it’s all the way down the shaft. To take it off again, push up gently from the base to slide the attachment off.
Some attachments might get a little caught, so be patient and wiggle gently to get it unstuck.
Velvet Thruster Prime Accessories – Are They Worth Adding?
There’s a hole at the bottom of Prime’s base. That’s where you’re screwing any of these accessories to make the most of your thrusting experience.
There are two handles to choose from: Partner Play and Long Reach Handles.
If you want some play time with your lover and your Prime Thruster, get the Partner Play Handle. It’s a short, straight handle best for a partner to wield the thrusting sex toy to your surrender.
On the other hand, the Long Reach Handle is an angled, flexible handle that gives you better grip/control during solo play.
Downsides to using either handle? You’ll have a hard time reaching the control buttons.
For some hands-free fun, you can buy the Prime Suction Cup as a separate attachment. It mounts your Thruster on any wall or flat surface.
You can angle it forward or backward up to 45°. So it’s not as flat as Teddy TX’s suction cup. That’s why it’s much stronger and sticks better.
Not Thruster Prime exclusive, but you can buy an Extra Charger for your Velvet Thruster for just 20 bucks.
You know, just in case yours gets lost, you forgot where you kept it, etc. In case you’re wondering, I still have my Mini Teddy charger — all well and charging still.
My Experience With Velvet Thruster Prime
My experiences with the different Velvet Prime Thruster shafts have been nothing short of knee-jerking orgasm amazing.
Last year, I said that Teddy TX was the self-thrusting toy to beat. I was right for a couple of months, but then I tried Velvet Thruster Prime…
Move over, TX! Thrusting toys have got a new queen (or king).
Now, I’m no size queen. So, the combo that really worked for me was the Prime Jackie with or without the suction cup.
Even without the suction cup base, Prime is easier to hold than the OG Jackie. I usually grab the “balls” part to keep the thruster steady for comfy penetration.
However, placing some pillows under the sex toy between my legs is still my SOP to keep it from moving away from me.
Adjusting the stroke speeds was very easy. I can just feel the ‘+’ and ‘−’ buttons without looking at the toy if I wanted to go up or down a stroke speed. I didn’t even pay attention to the new color-changing band feature.
That keeps me in the moment and makes me focus on the thru-sk at hand.
Just like my Teddy TX, Prime’s silicone material absorbs a lot of lube. TIP: Make sure to always keep a water-based lube nearby.
But Jackie did glide smoothly in and out of me. The subtle ridge and textured shaft paired well with the toy’s powerful thrusts.
Unlike my Teddy TX, Prime thrusts deeper and faster. Every thrust felt as close to real sex as possible. I didn’t need a lot of texture to get things going.
The powerful thrusts and gentle textures were more than enough to make me come. Sometimes, I clench. And so far, the motor hasn’t stalled.
Now, onto the accessories. I’m not a fan of the handles, especially the long one. It was very difficult to use it to manipulate the toy during solo play.
It kinda looked like I was wielding an electric chainsaw that I don’t even know how to use. (Nope, not happening again.)
But the suction cup base is my favorite. I usually attach it to my Prime Thruster if I want to ride Jackie on the floor or simply stick it on the wall for some hands-free action.
The suction cup is super strong — way better than Teddy TX’s built-in suction. I had no problem keeping it steady on a wall or any smooth surface.
I’m super impressed by Velvet Thruster Prime’s battery life too. Most thrusting toys only run an hour or two after one full charge. With this thruster, I don’t have to recharge the toy after every use.
Room for improvement? I hope Velvet Co. will make waterproof thrusting toys. And I can’t wait for the day that they’ll come up with quiet thrusting toys like the Stronics.
How To Clean the Velvet Thruster Prime
The Velvet Thruster Prime is not waterproof, so you should take care not to get water in the motor section. Instead, tilt the head of the toy downward so that water slides off it when washing, and not towards the base.
Alternatively, you can remove the attachment and just wash that separately, since it is 100% waterproof.
You can use warm running water or a damp cloth to clean only the attachment section of the toy. Use a mild soap or sex toy cleaner to clean it thoroughly.
Air dry before packing your toy away.
Things to Consider Before Buying a Velvet Thruster
Size
The Velvet Thruster, when fully extended, reaches about 13 inches in length – about the size of a Magic Wand. Even at it’s smallest, it’s about 10 inches long.
Weight
This hand-held thruster weighs about 14 ounces, so it’s certainly not what you’d call light. For folks with mobility issues, the suction cup might be your best bet.
Noise
As you might expect from a thrusting machine, the Velvet Thruster Prime isn’t exactly quiet. If you have housemates, you might need some loud music to help keep your little secret. It ranges from about 57 to 65 dB – compared to ambient noise, which is roughly 30 dB, this little thruster makes itself known.
Buttons
There are three buttons used to control the thruster, one to turn the toy on, and two to increase and decrease thrusting speed, respectively. They’re pretty easy to find and don’t require much pressure to push down. They also make a noticeable sound when they’re pressed.
Suction Cup
This is an extra you can choose to purchase alongside the Prime to give you even more options on how you use your toy. It’s a decently sturdy suction cup, with a concave base for extra suction. This lets you attach it to any flat, smooth surface for more fun, and hands-free play.
You can also use it to store your toy, or rest it on a flat surface without having it touch anything.
Water-Resistance
The two parts of the Velvet Thruster Prime have different waterproof ratings. The dildo attachments are fully waterproof and submersible, but the motor isn’t waterproof, water-resistant, or splash-proof, so be careful.
Flexibility
The thick silicone means these attachments aren’t incredibly flexible, but they definitely have a bit of give in them. You can enjoy a small range of motion to find just the right spot, but don’t count on total flexibility.
Budget
If you’re on a tight budget, the Velvet Thruster Prime is something to save up for. It rests on the more expensive end of the sex toy spectrum, but when compared to full fucking machines, it’s still the more affordable option. Its customization options also mean you’ll be getting exactly the toy you want.
