My First Impressions /Packaging of the We-Vibe Rave

The Rave comes in sleek, pretty packaging like all of We-Vibe’s toys. Every time I open something from them, it really feels like opening a gift!

Inside the teal box, featuring a blended purple and blue silhouette of the toy itself, I found the Rave presented in all its glory. I love that We-Vibe’s toys are always on display like this, floating in a foam mold.

I found all the exciting extras behind the Rave. 

The USB charging cable and user manual are standard, of course, but there’s also a large satin storage pouch and a sachet of lube. 

The storage pouch is big enough to fit the toy, manual, and charger, and the lube means you’re ready to go almost as soon as you unpack the Rave.

How Does the We-Vibe Rave Look & Feel?

The Rave is unlike any vibrator I’ve seen before—in that it’s completely crooked. 

When I first picked it up, I was a little SHOCKED. 

Its body follows the general curved shape you’d expect from a G-spot vibe along the length. But along the width, it’s a whole different story. 

It sort of twists, with an asymmetrical head and long pointed ridges along both sides.

Honestly, it’s sort of hard to describe. The best way I can put it is that it looks like someone at the factory messed up the molds when they were making it. 

That’s what I thought at first, but I was wrong. 

It turns out the asymmetrical design is a feature, not a bug. It’s supposed to allow for a wide variety of possible stimulation, and I can confirm the weird shape delivers.

Apart from its strange form, it has all the luxurious smoothness you’d expect from a premium sex toy. 

The body-safe silicone is silky soft to the touch, but there’s no give in it at all. The Rave is rigid to make sure you’re getting very firm G-spot pressure.

I found the Rave to be surprisingly quiet for a vibrator this powerful. It’s not silent, of course, but I felt very comfortable using it with other people in the house.

How to Use We-Vibe Rave

The Rave isn’t meant to be used like other G-spot stimulators. Instead of just pushing or thrusting, you’re supposed to twist the Rave inside you. 

This sounds weird, but hear me out.

The asymmetrical design means that as you twist, your G-spot receives a wide variety of surfaces, leading to a wide variety of sensations. It can be as intense or as subtle as you want.

You can still use it to rock, push, or thrust if you want. But the inclusion of varied ridges and slopes means there’s a whole new dimension of stimulation that’s unique to this toy.

Manual Control

The Rave has three very easy-to-use buttons to control its most basic functions. The buttons are set into the toy’s body and marked by raised silicone symbols.

There’s a central button that turns the toy on and off. To do this, just hold the button down for three seconds. The same button can be used to cycle through the Rave’s 10 vibration patterns.

Above and below the power/patterns button, you have the intensity controls. Use the ‘+’ and ‘–’ buttons to get exactly the level you want or to ramp up gradually. 

I found the buttons to be a bit hard to press, so that’s where the app control comes in handy.

Solo 

The We-Connect app offers all the standard features of the manual controls, plus a whole lot more.

You can download the app (available for Android or iPhone) and pair it with the Rave. 

One way around this is to clone the We-Connect app with something like Clone App. You will then effectively have a separate We-Connect app for each toy you own.

Then, the world is your oyster! You can adjust the vibration intensity in real-time, sync the vibes to music stored on your phone, or adjust the intensity according to sounds in the room.

Long Distance

All We-Vibe’s products are made with couples in mind, and the Rave follows that trend. Even though it’s best as a solo toy, you can also invite your partner in on the fun through the long-distance feature in the app.

To hand over control to your partner, you can invite them to connect. Once they accept, you can give them all the same controls available during solo play. 

In your long-distance play session, you have the option of video chat, voice calls, text chat, and photo sharing. Have fun!

Charging and Battery Life

We-Vibe had deviated from their standard magnetic charger for the Rave, which had the tendency to disconnect when your back was turned. Instead, it uses an insertable charging cable, which is why the toy isn’t waterproof.  

Fortunately, this means the cable is much more secure, so you can be sure the Rave will be ready for your next play session.

To charge, just plug in the charger and attach the USB end to your computer or a wall adapter. It takes about 90 minutes to charge, and from that, you’ll get a solid 2 hours of playtime.

The Rave also has a low-battery warning, so you don’t get caught off-guard in the middle of a self-pleasure session. Withholding orgasms is only fun when it’s done on purpose, after all!

If you see a little blinking light below the Rave’s buttons, it’s time for a charge.

My Experience With We-Vibe Rave

Once I figured out that the Rave’s odd shape was intentional, I was really curious to see what all those bumps and ridges were supposed to do for my G-spot.

I decided to try it out as a clitoral vibrator first to get me in the mood. 

I started with a healthy dose of water-based lube and was pleasantly surprised to find the Rave worked as an amazing external vibe too.

I don’t always like pinpoint clitoral stimulation, and the varied shape of the Rave meant I could find a nice flat spot. This gave me broader stimulation and got me in the mood in no time.

Internally, I found another world of surprises. The Rave really kept me on edge, never knowing what sensation would come next as I twisted it inside me. 

I loved the rumbly sensations, and the firm, rigid body of the toy meant that I felt every nuance of the vibrations. It also gave me nice firm pressure on my G-spot.

I found the buttons to be a bit frustrating, so I mostly used the app controls. My favorite function is the ‘Beats’ option, where I can sync the vibes to music on my phone.

I also tried out the long-distance app control a couple of times. I loved that I could give the controls to my partner and share a video chat with him at the same time. 

Unfortunately, though, We-Vibe’s We-Connect app is notorious for dropping out mid-play sessions, and I’m afraid that hasn’t improved.

The Rave, for me at least, is much better as a solo pleasure toy, and I had a wonderful time on my own. 

I ended up switching back and forth between G-spot and clitoral stimulation, and I can confirm the Rave lives up to its name!
